Allah is referred to as "king" five times in the Qur'ān.

"He is Allah, besides Whom there is no god; the King…" [Sūrah al-Hashr: 23]

"So exalted be Allah, the True King!" [Sūrah TāHā: 114]

"…the King of humanity, the God of humanity." [Sūrah al-Nās: 2]

"Lo! the righteous will dwell among gardens and rivers, in the seat of honor with a Mighty King." [Sūrah al-Qamar: 54-55]

In Arabic, the word for "owner" (mālik) is closely related to the word "king" (malik), the only difference being that "owner" is pronounced with an added stress on the letter a. Allah is referred to by this related name "Owner" in other verses, including:

"Owner of Judgment Day." [Sūrah al-Fātihah: 4]

(Indeed, in some modes of reciting the Qur'ān, the word is pronounced with an unstressed a so the verse reads: "King of Judgment Day.")

Also: "Say: O Allah! Owner of Sovereignty!" [Sūrah Āl `Imrān: 26]

Allah is "the owner of sovereignty". Indeed, he is the King of Kings, since the lives and destinies of all earthly kings are in His hands. It is as Allah says: "Blessed is He for whom sovereignty is in His hand." [Sūrah al-Mulk: 1] And thus He is the "True King" who has "sovereignty of the heavens and the Earth".

Allah's sovereignty is absolute. It has no limit. "Human beings can be described as possessing "sovereignty", but theirs is transient and it is limited in scope. We say that someone is king of a particular country. We likewise say that someone is the owner of a field or a vehicle. These types of sovereignty and ownership are limited in their timeframe – the duration of a person's lifetime at most, often less – as well as in the scope of what is being possessed or being ruled.

All over the world, we can see artifacts and monuments left behind by past civilizations: mighty castles, great estates, the ruins of Egypt, Greece and Rome. They attest to those who once possessed great power but then passed on into the annals of history. They held sway for a period of time over a part of the globe. Then Allah decreed that their rule would come to an end. Thus it becomes clear to us that true sovereignty belongs to Allah alone, whereas human sovereignty is fleeting and capricious, restricted and incomplete.

Ahmad Zaky has written a series of moving articles entitled Civilizations which Have Come and Gone. How true this title is.

Tell me: Who has ever possessed the entire world? People talk about people like Pharaoh, Nimrod, and Alexander the Great, but none of them were able to take possession of the whole world, or bring all of humanity under their sway. All who rule do so over a limited domain for a limited time. Allah has made it the norm throughout the ages that nations, kings, and powers would contended with one another. He says: "And if not Allah did not check one set of people by means of another, the Earth would indeed be full of mischief: But Allah is full of bounty to all the worlds." [Sūrah al-Baqarah: 251]

No human being has ever possessed the whole of the Earth or has been able to govern all of its affairs. Consider, then, how small a part the Earth is of Allah's vast universe.

Allah, indeed, is the True King in every way. He gives to His servants when they beseech Him, and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) informs us that in Paradise, Allah will bestow "what no eye has yet seen, no ear ever heard, and no mind ever imagined." [Sahīh al-Bukhārī (3244) and Sahīh Muslim (2824)]

Moreover, Allah says: "And no soul knows what delights of the eye have been kept hidden in store from them as a reward for what they used to do." [Sūrah al-Sajdah: 17]

The people with the least reward in Paradise will abide for eternity in palatial splendor, dwelling in beauty and delight beyond all imagining. The lowliest denizen of Paradise will have what isequal to äll the world and ten times more." [Sahīh al-Bukhārī (7437) and Sahīh Muslim (182, 187)]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The denizens of Paradise look up at the denizens of the levels above them the way they would look upon a twinkling planet moving from East to West across the sky. This is the disparity between them."

When the people heard this, they asked: "Messenger of Allah, are those higher levels the levels of the Prophets, not to be attained by anyone else?"

He replied: "Indeed not. I swear by Him in whose hand is my soul, they are just people who believed in Allah and believed the Messengers." [Sahīh al-Bukhārī (3256) and Sahīh Muslim (2831)]

These are but some of Allah's bounties that he shall bestow upon some of His worshipers. How far more glorious, then, must Firdaws be, the highest domain of Paradise, directly below the Throne of the Beneficent.

Allah gives and bestows without measure, and the bounty He gives to His servants does not decrease what He possesses in the least. The Prophet (peace be upon him) relates to us that Allah says:

O My servants! If the first of you and the last of you, human of you and jinn of you, were as the most God-fearing heart of any single man among you, this would not increase My dominion in the least.

O My servants! If the first of you and the last of you, human of you and jinn of you, were as the most sinful heart of any single man among you, this would not decrease My dominion in the least.

O My servants! If the first of you and the last of you, human of you and jinn of you, were to stand as one and ask of Me and I were to give each person what he asked for, it would not diminish what I have, any more than the ocean would be diminished if a needle were dipped into it. [Sahīh Muslim (2577)]

Also, Allah tells us in the Qur'an: "Say: O Allah! Owner of Sovereignty! You give sovereignty unto whom You will, and You snatch sovereignty from whom You will. You exalt whom You will, and You abase whom You will. In Your hand is the good. Lo! You are able to do all things. You cause the night to pass into the day, and You cause the day to pass into the night. And You bring forth the living from the dead, and You bring forth the dead from the living. And You give sustenance to whom You choose, without measure." [Sūrah Āl `Imrān: 26-27]

Consider the choice of word "snatch" here. This is because when a human being possesses something of value, he or she is very reluctant to part with it. It is not parted with peacefully.

We as human beings may comb the Earth for our sustenance. We may work with might and main to our utmost strength, producing, stretching our creativity and our intellects to the limit. Nevertheless, we will forever be the subjects of our Lord, the possessions of the one who created us. We should know that this servitude to our Creator is the greatest station of liberty there is, for the servant of Allah acts from free conviction and free desire.

Our belief that Allah is King benefits us. It increases our desire to turn to Allah and seek from His bounty. We increase our supplications to the one whom we know is the true Owner of all things. This belief also frees us from the thrall of what we see other people possessing. We do not debase ourselves before those people or compromise our human dignity in hopes of their favor. Instead, we apply out own energies and God-given talents to aspire to be the best we can be, placing our reliance and trust in Allah alone.

When we pack our bags to go visit far away living friends, we remember to pack our clothes, shoes, bathroom neccesities and other little things ....

Since we could understand right from wrong, we have started packing our bags and will finish when our souls leave us.

Have you packed your salah everyday?
    Have you packed your fasting?
Have you packed your reading and memorizing the quran?
Have you packed those little things we do and get ajar for?
    Have you?

Our bags are called life. We have to pack everyday because we don't know when Allah wil call us back too him, so we have to be ready too go all the time, any where.

And on the way up to Allah, you don't get any U-turns so that you could go back and get the things you forgot to pack. So start packing if you already haven't, and don't forget, there's no such thing as too many bags when were packing for our trip to Allah ...

    Love for Allâh

Shaykh ’Abdur-Rahmân ibn Hasan said: [1]

“Allâh – the Most High - says:

“Say: If you truly love Allâh, then follow me, and Allâh will love you.” [2]

This âyah is also known as Ayatul-Muhabbah (the âyah about love). Some of the Salaf have said, “The people claimed that they loved Allâh, so Allâh the Most High revealed the âyah about muhabbah (love), “Say: If you truly love Allâh, then follow me, and Allâh will love you.” [3] So this âyah indicates the proofs and evidences for muhabbah and its fruits and benefits. So from the proofs of muhabbah and its clear signs is: to follow the Messenger sallallâhu ’alayhi wa sallam; and from its fruits and its benefits is: that Allâh will love you. So whosoever does not seek to follow the Prophet sallallâhu ’alayhi wa sallam, then such a person will not attain the love of Allâh.

    Characteristics of True Love

Allâh – the Most High – also says:

“O you who believe! If any of you turns back from his religion (then wait) Allâh will create a people who will love Him and He will love them, who will be soft and gentle with the Believers and harsh with the disbelievers, who will fight in the path of Allâh, and will not be afraid of the blame from the blamers.” [4]

Here, Allâh has mentioned four characteristics of those who love Him:

Firstly and Secondly: they are gentle and soft towards the Believers. It is said that this means: to be merciful, compassionate and kind. ’Atâ‘ (d.114H) – rahimahullâh – said, “A Believer’s gentleness for another Believer is like that of a child towards his father, or a slave towards his beloved master; and against the disbeliever, it is like that of a lion towards its prey: “Strong against the disbelievers, and merciful towards each other.” [5] ”

Thirdly, Jihâd in the Path of Allâh with the soul, the hand, the tongue, and with wealth and property. This is the characteristic by which the true muhabbah is ascertained.

Fourthly, they are not afraid of the blame and reproach of the blamers. This being the truest characteristic of muhabbah.

If the one claiming muhabbah, whilst loving his beloved, fears the blames and reproaches or others, then this is in reality, not considered to be true muhabbah. Allâh the Most High says:

“Those whom they call upon, themselves desire the wasîlah (means of approach) to their Lord to which of them should be nearest. They hope for His mercy and fear His punishment.” [6]

Here, three levels which are linked to muhabbah have been mentioned, [i] Love, which is desiring to seek nearness to Him; [ii] at-Tawassul (seeking the means of approach) to Him, through righteous and correct actions; [iii] Hope and fear, a proof of desiring the means of approach to Him through righteous and correct actions is that such actions are done hoping in His mercy and also fearing His punishment.

And it is known with necessity that seeking nearness (to Allâh) can only be achieved when there is a desire and love for this, and the desire and love for seeking nearness (to Him) stems from love of Him. Indeed, true love for Him necessitates desiring to draw near to Him. However, the Jahmiyyah and the Mu’attilah, none of this has any value. Since, in their (false) view, Allâh does not draw near to anyone, nor does anyone draw near to Him, nor does He love anyone. So they deny life for the hearts, bliss for the souls, coolness for the eyes and highlights the delights of this world and the Hereafter. And due to this denial, their hearts became hardened, and between them and Allâh there came barriers and obstacles from knowing Him and loving Him. They do not know Him, nor do they seek to love Him, nor do they mention Him, except by negating and denying His Names and Attributes. They criticize and condemn those who make mention of the perfect and majestic Names and the Attributes of Allâh, accusing them of that which is more befitting to be attributed to themselves! And sufficient is it for one possessing knowledge and possessing a heart with life, that they view the sayings of such people with harshness, contempt and hatred; knowing that such people have disassociated themselves from the love of Allâh the Most High and from knowing and understanding His Uniqueness and Oneness (with respect to His Names, Attributes and Actions).

    A Comprehensive Definition

    Ibn Taymiyyah (d.728H) - rahimahullâh - says:

“There cannot be clearer recognition of mahabbah than this, and this recognition in itself increases love for Allâh. And people have discussed (at lengths) about mahabbah - its causes, its signs, its fruits, its supports and its rulings. The most comprehensive of what has been said about this is what Abû Bakr al-Katânî relates from al-Junayd (d.297H):

    Abû Bakr al-Katânî said:

A discussion about mahabbah took place in Makkah, during pilgrimage season. The Shaykhs who were present spoke about this topic, and al-Junayd being the youngest of them. They said to him: What do you say, O ’Irâqî? So al-Junayd lowered his head and tears were gushing from his eyes, then he said:

“A servant should overcome his soul,

And be continuous in the remembrance of his Lord,

Establishing the rights of his Lord,

Focusing upon Him with his heart,

The light of fear setting ablaze his heart,

Whilst drinking from the vessel of pure love,

And certain hidden realities being unveiled for him.

So when he talks, it is due to Allâh,

When he speaks, it is from Allâh,

When he moves, it is by the Command of Allâh,

And when he is serene, then it is from Allâh,

He belongs to Allâh, is for Allâh and is with Allâh.”

Upon hearing, the Shaykhs all started weeping, and they said: There is nothing left to add to that, may Allâh reward you O Crown of the Knowledgeable Ones.”

    Developing Love for Allâh

    Ibn al-Qayyim - rahimahullâh - says:

“The reasons which cause mahabbah of Allâh to develop, are ten:

Firstly: Reciting the Qur‘ân, reflecting and understanding its meaning and its intent.

Secondly: Drawing closer to Allâh - the Most High - through optional deeds, after fulfilling the obligatory duties.

Thirdly: Being continuous in the dhikr (remembrance) of Allâh, with the tongue, the heart and the limbs - under all circumstances. The more constant the dhikr, the more mahabbah develops and intensifies.

Fourthly: Giving precedence to what Allâh loves over personal loves, when being overcome by desires.

Fifthly: Contemplating and deliberating over the Names and Attributes of Allâh.

Sixthly: Recognising and remembering the favours and bounties of Allâh - both the manifest and hidden.

Seventhly: To be humble and submissive before Allâh - and this is the greatest matter.

Eightly: To be in seclusion reciting the Qur‘ân, during that time in which Allâh descends to the lowest heaven (which is the last third of every night), finishing this recitation with seeking Allâh’s forgiveness and repenting to Him.

Ninthly: To sit in the gatherings of true and sincere lovers of Allâh, reaping the fruits of their speech, and not to speak except if there is benefit in it and that you know that such talk will increase you in goodness and that it will benefits others as well.

Tenthly: To stay clear of all those causes which distances the heart from Allâh - the Mighty and Majestic.

So these are the ten reasons which cause the person to develop true love for Allâh and to reach the rank of al-muhabbah, by which he reaches his Beloved.” [7]

My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than the obligatory duties. And My servant continues to draw near to Me with the optional actions, so that I shall love him. Words to My Muslim Sister

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, All Praise is due to Alláh.

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

    by The Muslim Creed Magazine

    My Dear Sister,
Know that you are man's sister and half of humanity. You are a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, grand daughter or grand mother. The Prophet said, what translated means, Women are, indeed, men's partners. [Abu Dawood]. You are a member of the great nation of Islam, the best nation ever produced for mankind.

No other nation on earth has more great men, leaders and conquerors than this nation. It is the nation of guidance and the straight religion, and it leads humanity to righteousness and truth. It transforms people from worshippers of slaves to worshippers of the Lord of slaves, from life's pressures to the pleasures of the Life after, and from the injustice of other religions to the justice of Islam.

Your ancestors, great women of Islam, were one of the main reasons for this great nation to take this great place among all nations. Allah, Who granted Islam to this nation, made a high place for Muslim women, and decreed that they share in the responsibilities of enjoining truth, forbidding evil and raising the flag of Islam.

He said, what translated means, The believers, men and women, are loyalists of one another, they enjoin righteousness and forbid evil, they offer their prayers perfectly and give the Zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will leave His Mercy on them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. [9:71]

Allah has given Muslim women what they can bare of orders and duties. He is the God Who knows His creation, Should He not know what He created? And He is the Most Kind, All-Aware (of everything). [67:14].

My dear sister, you are called upon today to truly become an active member of the Muslim nation, strive to establish victory for Allah's Word, implement the Quran and help build the generation of Iman.

What Do Your Enemies Want From You?There are those who want to distract you from doing your duty. They want to distract you from meeting your noble obligation, that is, to defend the religion of Allah and raise His Word high. Those enemies use many methods:

First: They distract you from what Allah created you to perform of worship, belief and Da'wah (propagating Islam). They use this worldly life as their bate: Jewelry stores, fashions that originate in non-Muslim countries, new models all the time, desires raised, hunger that can never be satisfied, pleasures and competition for them and endless ways for joy. Allah did not create us for this. Indulging in these matters is usually accompanied by wasting time and money and igniting enmity and competition between the rich and the poor.

Second: They ignite enmity between you and man. To those sinners, you are a daughter that is put down, a humiliated mother, an abused wife and an oppressed sister! Men are always unjust, hypocrites, dictators, freedom- preventers and suppressers, according to them. There is a fabricated war that those evil ones are starting for no reason other than to direct you to rebel against your father, be arrogant with your brother and disobedient to your husband. They do not call for justice, mercy and unity. They call for hatred, arrogance and destruction.

Third: They do not stop at their call for rebellion against parents, brothers and husbands, rather, they plot against Islam. They call upon you to rebel against the obligations of Islam and the decrees of the All-Knowing King. Islam, to them, is unjust and Islamic laws are imperfect and restrictive. They call upon you, day and night, to rebel and insist on the disobedience of this religion. They try to rid you of your religion. They try to rid you of comfort and safety under generous parenthood, happy marriage and good brotherly relations.

Those devils portray piety and honor as chains on freedom. To them, Hijab does not cover the head, but also covers the mind; prayer, fasting and Zakat are a waste of time and effort; and obedience to husbands is slavery and a retum to the stone age. They distorted all facts and changed all truths, all to serve their evil goals.

    Dear Sister,
The goals that your enemies and the enemies of your religion are seeking to achieve are well known. They want you to be available for them to fulfill their evil desires whenever they wish. They want you to be a mistress that has no honor. They want you to be found everywhere, on roads and in places of sin, without honor, religion or manners.

They seek for you only what they want you to do. The Western world has gone through this all. Women of the West are the part of society that is facing injustice and dishonor. They strive to please men who keep changing partners and seek pleasures but with no responsibility and no consideration of the evil consequences of their sinful actions.

O Muslim sister, read and know about those women who discarded shyness and honor and followed their desires, what was the result of their deeds? Was their end honorable and desirable, or was it a shameful and hated end?

Advice For My Sister In IslamBe proud of your religion and the religion of your ancestors. Be a good example for your sons and daughters and sincere in your belonging to this mighty nation. Know that honor is an honor to all wise people, and that adultery is dishonorable to all nations, even if some called it freedom. Know that adultery is also done with the eyes by seeing, with the ears by listening, and with the mouth by kissing, as was mentioned in a Hadith related by Imam Muslim.

Your happiness is in being an obedient and believing daughter, a loyal and generous wife and a pious and merciful mother. Know that prayer is the cornerstone of Islam. Fasting one day, for the sake of Allah, takes your face seventy years away from Hellfire, as the Hadith, related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim, states.

Charity is a major cause for gaining forgiveness and for repentance to be accepted. Those women who are showing parts of their bodies to men, will not enter Paradise or smell its fragrance and are cursed, as in the Hadith related by Imam Muslim. Hijab is an honor and protection for you. Hijab must be modest in color and not exotic, wide and thick and not revealing, different from the dress of non-Muslim women and men.

    My Dear Sister,
These are words from the heart. These are words of good and sincere advice. Beware of the loyalists of Satan who want to lead you astray. Be a slave of Allah, righteous and decendent of righteous women and know your role in building this great nation. Perform your duty and do not be a cause for destruction. Be a maker of righteous generation that will lead mankind, again, to what is right and proper, to the great religion of Islam.
